Some days are just good.
Today is one of those days. I slept in this morning until about 8:15, which is unusual on a number of levels. Sleeping in is not my favorite thing in the world, but occasionally it's what is needed. Today, I needed the extra sleep. Kim and I dressed and strolled down the street to Liberation Nashville, our home studio. Our instructor for the morning practice was Molly Upchurch.
Molly is one of those rare humans who is beautiful by any definition. She's pretty, but it's more than that. She's just peaceful and strong and caring. I've taken several Sunday morning practices with her leading, and they're always perfect. She instructs the class through standard asanas, but she makes it feel like a dance. She moves the students through the usual poses, but she takes one deeper and in different directions.
Molly told us this morning that she's dialing back her portfolio of classes. She'll still teach her Friday 9:00 am class. She'll no longer be offering her Sunday morning flow. Normally, hearing this news would have left me a little sad, maybe even disappointed. But today, I felt happy for her. It can't be easy to commit to a class every week. Especially on the weekends.
Thank you, Molly, for being there for us on Sundays for such a long stretch. I will try to make the 9:00 Friday class when I can, but I plan to approach the weekend classes with the same vitality and peaceful attitude you've instilled in us.
Today feels like a good day. Yoga this morning. Shopping for food directly after. Putting amazing ingredients together to craft a Sunday supper for my pals Josh and Lauren, who just got married last week.
Today feels like a good day.
