Part 232 - Snark

Haters gonna hate.

"On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies - God damn it, you've got to be kind."

- K. Vonnegut

Before you snark. Think.

Is the person you're snarking self employed? Are you?

If you're an employee, working for someone else, then you probably don't know all the stress and frustration that goes along with running a business.

If you're being paid by someone who brings in the work, give some thought to the things they have to do to bring you work.

In a yoga studio, the owner has to rent space, pay utilities, stock the shelves, manage payroll, schedule classes, advertise, promote, etc. They have to do these things all day - every day. They don't just drop in, teach a class, collect a check and roll on. They are there - day in/day out. Making sure there's tea. Making sure the plumbing works. Making sure the workshop you're teaching next week is full of students.

I'm just saying stop and think. In yoga we're taught to notice. To be here. To be present. I have a hard time understanding how people can notice and be aware and snark the studio owners. Makes no sense to me.

Think about the work that goes into running a business. Think about the time and energy other professionals put into building their brand. Think about the human being behind the blog post that you took umbrage with. Think about how you might feel if you went out on a limb and created something (a blog post) and someone just hopped on line and gave you shit for it. Just. Think.

Be. Kind.
